TranXenoGen is developing transgenic technologiesfor the production of transgenic animals, including
a non-viral method for the transfection of large transgenes
into chicken eggs (Direct-Egg Transfection). The goal is
transgenic chickens that express the recombinant protein
in the albumin fraction of their eggs.
TranXenoGen is also developing a technology (Gene-Testes
Transfection), designed to be applicable in many species of
animals. The technology targets transfection of a transgene
into the male animal in such a way that the male animal will
produce transgenic sperm. Consequently, the male can be
easily bred to generate transgenic animals.
TranXenoGen’s R&D projects also include:
Utilizing avian stem cells to improve the flexibility and
effectiveness of the transgenic chicken platform.
Developing of an in-licensed novel human protein,
anti-neoplastic urinary protein, “ANUP”, from Antitumor
Research Products. ANUP is believed to be an anti-
cancer protein, which is effective in treating cervical and
other cancers. TranXenoGen is currently in early stage
development and in-vitro testing of the product. If
successful, future development in animal models and
preclinical testing will commence.
