V.I. Technologies is a leading developer of a broadportfolio of blood products and systems which use its proprietary pathogen

inactivation technologies. The Company's technologies are intended to address the risks of viral, bacterial and other pathogen contamination in blood products, including plasma, plasma derivatives, red blood cells and platelets. Viral inactivation processes have the potential to eliminate viruses that are enveloped by lipid membranes such as

hepatitis B virus ("HBV"), hepatitis C virus ("HCV") and HIV, the virus that

causes AIDS, and non-enveloped viruses such as hepatitis A virus ("HAV") and

parvovirus and other known and unknown pathogens.
