Xcyte Therapies, Inc., a Seattle-based biotechnology company, is developing and commercializing novel cell-based or cellular therapeutic products that harness the power of the immune system to treat cancer and many infectious diseases. It was founded in 1996 by Ron Berenson, MD, a biotechnology veteran and founder of CellPro. Xcyte Therapies has an experienced management team with a proven track record of developing and commercializing biopharmaceutical products. Currently, the company has 60 employees and occupies approximately 20,000 square feet that includes office and laboratory space as well as a state of the art manufacturing facility.
Xcyte Therapies is initially targeting its first product to treat cancers that respond to therapeutic agents that activate the immune system. These types of cancer include, but are not limited to, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), leukemia, and multiple myeloma.
