This can replace the lengthy process of gene isolation, subcloning, expression, and recombinant protein purification. Obtaining specific ligands for any one protein is tedious and time-consuming by current mothods. It also involves some uncertainty in terms of being able to express all the proteins and to obtain the expressed proteins in their native form (a common example for this is the glycosylation pattern of eukaryotic proteins which often critically depends on the expression host). Thus, obtaining specific ligands for most, if not all, of the proteins in any given sample is outright impractical by current methods. However, this can be achieved with Xerion's simultaneous screening in a high-throughput setting.
