Contact Lenses: Sales of contact lenses represented approximately 28% of consolidated 2001 revenues. The company's contact lens offerings span the entire spectrum of wearing modalities and include such well known brand names as PureVision, SofLens66 Toric, SofLens One Day, Bausch & Lomb Two Week, Boston and Optima FW.
Lens Care: The sale of contact lens care solutions represented approximately 25% of consolidated 2001 revenues. The company’s lens care products include the ReNu and Sensitive Eyes brands for soft contact lenses and the Boston line of products for cleaning rigid gas permeable contact lenses.
Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgery: Products used for cataract and vitreoretinal surgery procedures accounted for approximately 18% of consolidated 2001 revenues. The company offers a full suite of products in this area, including various intraocular lenses and delivery systems, the Millennium line of phacoemulsification equipment, and other surgical devices and instruments.
Refractive Surgery: Sales of products used in refractive surgery accounted for approximately 8% of consolidated 2001 revenues. Offerings in this area include the Technolas 217 small-beam advanced scanning excimer laser, the Hansatome microkeratome, the Orbscan corneal topographer and, outside the U.S., the Zyoptix system for customized laser vision correction.
Pharmaceutical: Sales of pharmaceutical products accounted for approximately 21% of consolidated 2001 revenues. The company’s offerings include generic and proprietary prescription pharmaceuticals, mostly in the ophthalmic field, over-the-counter eye drops and other medications. During 2000 the company expanded its presence in this area through the acquisition of Groupe Chauvin, a French ophthalmic pharmaceutical company. In combination with the company's existing Dr. Mann Pharma business in Germany, the acquisition will provide a pan-European presence and infrastructure from which to launch new products in development as well as to expand the distribution of the company's current proprietary pharmaceutical products, such as Lotemax and Alrex.
