Berlin Heart AG

Berlin - a city with a heart for new scientific developments, the birthplace of German VAD (ventricular assist device) technology. Without doubt, one of the pioneering achievements in this city was a large-scale research project "Devices for artificial assistance and substitution of the human heart", which was launched 30 years ago at the Freie Universität Berlin.

Ever since the successful introduction of the extracorporeal VAD Berlin Heart EXCOR almost 15 years ago, we have been continuously working to improve this system. In many hundreds of applications, it has already proved its worth the world over.



In close co-operation with the German Heart Institute Berlin (DHZB - Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin), we have been developing implantable heart support systems as well as the Excor mobile driving unit for the extracorporeal VAD system Berlin Heart EXCOR.
