Abeille Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was incorporated in 2003 as a Delaware corporation. Abeille is a product development company. Our mission is to develop pharmaceutical products with a focus on improving a drug's administration such that it enhances the convenience, improves compliance, and/or ameliorates the side-effects profile for patients.
Today, the big pharma, specialty pharmaceutical and generic companies prefer to in-license finished products or products in late stages of development, as opposed to partnering for a technology based product at an early stage of development. This strategy allows these companies to have a reduced risk of failure since the in-licensed product is approved or very near to FDA approval. However, the drug delivery business model has been to seek partners at an early stage of development, due to resource constraints and their risk management strategy. This divergence in priorities and focus has created an opportunity in the market place for companies such as Abeille. Our business model seeks to bridge the gap that exists today between drug delivery companies and big pharma, specialty pharma and the generic companies. We view this as an underserved segment within the pharmaceutical industry that we intend to exploit profitably. By leveraging the expertise that resides with our partners, development companies and CROs, our business model allows us to be nimble and flexible, while enabling faster and more economical product development.
The market segments that we have targeted are clearly defined and all are subject to high growth trends. Abeille will address markets that include drugs used to treat oncology related discomforts, diabetes and metabolic disorders, and CNS. There are unmet needs associated with these markets that can be filled by the unique propositions identified by us. Having identified its frontline drug candidates, Abeille is now pursuing the development of these drugs to advance them through the clinical stage.
