Alice McCarthy, MBA is a science, health, and medical writer serving clients in the biomedical and science communications industry. Since 1990, I have written consumer health newsletters, pharmaceutical market reports and sales forecasts, new drug analyses, magazine articles, CME programs, web copy, conference reports, and sales training guides.As a freelance writer and editor contributing to a variety of consumer health and scientific publications and websites, I have written more than 100 consumer-education feature articles providing health information for a lay audience. I am also currently writing and editing for scientific, corporate, and medical trade publications, hospitals and research centers, pharmaceutical companies, universities, market research and healthcare financial services firms, and medical communication agencies.

Alice McCarthy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in premedical biology from Boston College, and received her MBA from Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts. Upon graduating from Boston College, she was a laboratory research scientist at two biotechnology companies in Massachusetts—Hygeia Sciences, Inc. and Gene-Trak Systems — before becoming a market analyst and writer at Boston Biomedical Consultants, a consulting firm specializing in analysis of the in vitro diagnostics industry. She then moved to Decision Resources, Inc., an international consulting and publishing firm serving the pharmaceutical industry. After returning from her last assignment as Vice President and Managing Director of the firm’s London office, she turned to full-time freelancing based in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
