AngioGenetics is a Swedish biotechnology company focusing on discovery, development, and commercialisation of novel angiogenesis modulating drugs for the treatment of cancer, ischemic heart disease, and eye diseases. AngioGenetics has developed solid platforms for drug and target discovery, and these provide a pipeline of novel lead compounds and use-patent protected drugs to fulfil industry demands for such products.
AngioGenetics was incorporated in June 2001 as a spinout from Gothenburg University and Karolinska Institute. The founding aim was, and is, to capitalize on the promising outlook for angiogenesis modulating drugs and the pharmaceutical industry's growing need to outsource drug discovery to highly specialised biotechnology companies.
