Aptanomics

Aptanomics discovers and develops new drugs in major markets of unmet medical need. The Company focuses on well-validated but hard-to-crack therapeutic targets that are involved in signalling pathways that are deregulated in a broad range of cancers. A novel Bcl antagonist and a unique kinase antagonist are currently in development. Aptanomics has made the transition from establishing a robust discovery platform to focusing on the rapid development of its first molecules, which differ from competing products principally because they bind with high specificity to novel, validated sites on intractable targets. The Company's proprietary discovery engine, based on peptide aptamers, delivers a regular flow of new hits against relevant industrial targets. This nourishes its pipeline with a renewable source of product opportunities for in-house development and co-development through partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies. Aptanomics entered into an R&D collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim in June 2005.
