The American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT)
Download PDF Members: The American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) was founded in 1900, and consists of over 1,900 professionals whose primary interest is to promote and advance the science of human pharmacology and therapeutics. The Society is the largest scientific and professional organization serving the Discipline of Clinical Pharmacology. Most of the members are physicians (69%) or other doctoral scientists (29%). Pharmacists, nurses, research coordinators, fellows in training, and other professionals make up the remaining 2%.As a learned society, our primary concerns are better understanding and use of existing drug therapies, and developing better and safer treatments for the future. Our memberships' unique combination of scientific and clinical expertise makes them especially qualified to understand the impact of disease on patients, the compelling need for effective drug therapy and the efforts necessary to meet those needs. Such efforts include research, exchange of scientific information, consideration of legislation and regulations that affect drug development and utilization, and education.
