Bunton Instrument Co., Inc

Bunton Instrument Co., Inc. was founded in 1957 by Paul Bunton in Washington, DC. James F. Averill joined Mr. Bunton in 1960 as his active partner in the growing microscope dealership. The E. Leitz microscopes from Germany as well as the Wild microscopes from Switzerland were the mainstay of the company for more than thirty years.
The microscope industry has changed tremendously since 1960...especially here in America. The Japanese products began serious marketing efforts in the 1970s. Today, Olympus and Nikon are major players in the global microscope marketplace. Former American-made microscopes from A.O. and B&L are things of the past and the Chinese microscope makers have now entered the world microscopy markets with their own brand names (Motic), private label products and even complete microscopes and optical and mechanical components (OEM) for the NOZL firms. "NOZL"? ...Nikon, Olympus, Zeiss and Leica.
