Carlsson Research AB

Carlsson Research was formed in 1998 in Gothenburg (Göteborg) on the western shores of Sweden. The company lends its name from Arvid Carlsson, Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology and legendary neuroscientist at the University of Göteborg, who is one of the founders of the company. Arvid Carlsson was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 2000.
Seemingly young, Carlsson Research was actually formed by a research group active in its present format at the Department of Pharmacology already in 1987. Thus, the staff now employed by our company is to a majority constituted by a closely united core of people that has been working together for over fifteen years. Since drug discovery was our main pursuit already in the university era, the transition from being an academic group into working as a research company was hardly noticeable as for our everyday work. Furthermore, thanks to our extensive history of collaboration with several companies among "big pharma", the scientists at Carlsson Research are well familiar with the corporate environments of research
