DanioLabs (Cambridge UK) is a therapeutics company that has two primary business streams:
Internal R&D investigating new uses for established drugs (Reprofiling)
Phenotypic evaluation of compounds for other organisations, either for activity effects, or for preclinical safety pharmacology
As part of our approach, we use zebrafish as a key enabling technology. zebrafish as an experimental species provides significant benefits in the drug discovery process. They produce tiny, transparent offspring, that share some significant physiological and pharmacological similarities to humans, not least that they are vertebrates. Their size allows them to be used to evaluate the effects of compounds in human disease models in 96 well plate format. Therefore, medium throughput, high content in vivo assays are possible.
