Dr. Plechner

Alfred J. Plechner, D.V.M., a 1966 graduate of the University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, practiced in West Los Angeles for more than thirty-five years. Early in his career, he developed a special interest in nutrition, allergy, and the relationship of hormone-immune imbalances in dogs, cats, and horses. His research and clinical findings have been published in veterinary and human medical journals as well as popular animal magazines.Over the years, Plechner formulated a number of widely distributed commercial diets for food-sensitive pets, including the first non-meat and lamb and rice recipes. A special line of hypoallergenic diets he developed is widely prescribed by veterinarians today.
Plechner worked for many years with the California Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Wildlife Service to establish treatment and care guidelines for rescued wildlife. He owned and operated a federal and state-licensed facility in the Santa Monica Mountains, near Los Angeles, that serves as a relocation/rehabilitation center for rescued and injured wildlife indigenous to southern California.
In 2004 Dr. Plechner retired from his clinical practice at The California Animal Hospital and moved to Idaho. He now spends his time consulting with other veterinarians and health practitioners interested in his protocol. He also continues to write and publish articles on his protocol for both veterinary journals and human health journals as well as work with wildlife rescue in Idaho.
