Endius

Endius Incorporated, formerly Aust and Taylor Medical Corporation, was founded in 1992 by Dr. Gil Aust, an Orthopedic Surgeon and Timothy Taylor, an aerospace engineer formerly with NASA. The company's initial focus was on developing steerable instruments for Discectomy. In 1997, Tom Davison joined the company as CEO and moved its headquarters from Huntsville, Alabama to Boston, Massachusetts. In conjunction with the move, the company formally changed its name to Endius Incorporated and changed its focus to create devices that use proven technology to address the minimally invasive spine surgery market. Endius is the pioneer in minimally invasive spine surgery that enables surgeons to provide less traumatic and potentially more effective treatment for the more than one million patients who require surgery annually in the U.S. for chronic back pain. Within the minimally invasive spine fusion market, Endius is the clear leader in providing proven minimally invasive spine surgery products and implants, and is the developer of the FDA-cleared AtaviŽ Atraumatic Spine Surgery System based on the FlexPosure MIS Retractor. Endius Atavi: The Atavi Atraumatic Spine Surgery System from Endius is a single, integrated system that enables surgeons to perform a full range of lumbar spine fusion procedures - through one access portal - without changing the traditional open surgical technique. Atavi, which combines unique access technology, and sophisticated visualization and instrumentation capabilities, requires one small incision on each side of the spine during the entire procedure. The cornerstone of Atavi is the Atavi FlexPosureŽ Retractor, a patented access portal that is inserted through a small incision and expanded at the spine to establish and maintain substantial surgical exposure to the affected areas of the spine while protecting surrounding healthy muscle and soft-tissue.
