FASgen, Inc.

FASgen, LLC, was formed in 1999 to access both therapeutic and diagnostic technologies based on the critical role played by fatty acid biosynthesis in health and disease. FASgen, LLC, holds exclusive licenses from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) to extensive patent estate as well as all subsequent improvements for therapeutic and diagnostic applications of the discoveries by the company's founders and their colleagues. Two companies were subsequently formed to commercialize products developed from this growing patent estate. In 2000, FASgen, Inc., was formed to exploit therapeutic applications including those for cancer, infectious diseases, and metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes. In 2001, FASgen Diagnostics, LLC, was formed to develop potential diagnostic products. Four distinguished Johns Hopkins University researchers founded FASgen:
