Affymetrix Incorporated

Affymetrix is recognized as a worldwide leader in the field of DNA chip technology. Affymetrix has developed and intends to establish its GeneChip-Registered Trademark- system as the platform of choice for acquiring, analyzing and managing complex genetic information in order to improve the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease. Affymetrix's GeneChip system consists of disposable DNA probe arrays containing gene sequences on a chip, certain reagents for use with the probe arrays, a scanner and other instruments to process the probe arrays, and software to analyze and manage genetic information from the probe arrays. Affymetrix's commenced commercial sales of the GeneChip system for research use in April 1996 and currently sells its products to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic research centers and clinical reference laboratories.
