Cambridge Research Biochemicals (CRB) supports discovery research activities by providing custom-made research reagents, principally peptides and antibodies.
Peptides are biological tools with versatile properties being used as reagents for mapping out proteins (PepArrays), as immunogens for generating antibodies and tagged (with dyes, isotopes, biotin) for assay development and High Throughput Screening.
Unlike full-length proteins, peptides (shorter amino acid chains) are made synthetically by solid-phase chemical means. Therefore, they can be made as chemicals in a matter of weeks, at low cost and are highly characterisable reagents.
Antibodies to proteins are produced by using specially selected short peptides from the protein sequence as immunogens.
Cambridge Research Biochemicals uses screening techniques to monitor, evaluate and improve the immune response to deliver polyclonal antibodies of the highest affinity and specificity.
Finely tuned affinity purification techniques are used to extract the specific anti-peptide IgG fraction directed against the region of choice for example phosphorylation sites.
With over 20 years of experience of producing custom-generated antibodies, CRB has a wealth of experience and advice to offer for more challenging antibody requests.
