Alan joined GeoBiotics in 2004 as Manager, Africa and was appointed CEO in October 2005. Alan holds a B.Sc. (Eng.) (Hons.) in Mineral Technology from the Royal School of Mines, University of London, and has 29 years experience in the mineral processing industry specializing in mineral biotechnology. He gained operating experience at Silvermines in the Republic of Ireland, and with Gold Fields of South Africa and Shell (Billiton) in South Africa. Alan acquired feasibility study, marketing, project financial evaluation, commercial and process design skills with Shell (Billiton), Gengold, Gencor and BHP Billiton in South Africa. These skills have been principally in the gold, nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc, coal and mineral sands industries. Alan left BHP Billiton in 2002 to focus on consulting in minerals biotechnology and the development of new heap leaching technologies in two privately held South African Companies. Alan is responsible for business and technical development opportunities for the GEOCOAT® technology in gold and base metals within Africa and South America.
