Founded in 1995, MacroMed is a privately-held company developing and manufacturing advanced proprietary biodegradable injectable and oral polymeric drug delivery systems for internal products and products in partnership with pharmaceutical and biotech companies. The Company's platform of technologies is ideal for: enhancing the safety and efficacy of active agents; enabling formulation of insoluble drugs, proteins and peptides or other difficult-to-deliver drugs; and creating new market opportunities or adding value to existing drugs.MacroMed's scientific team has developed drug delivery technologies based on primary design objectives to increase drug bioavailability and widen therapeutic indices, with secondary objectives to decrease dosing frequency and improve patient compliance. These technologies are unique in their ability to effectively address the delivery needs of highly toxic drugs, drugs that are insoluble or unstable, and drugs that are extremely expensive or require frequent dosing in the clinical setting.
MacroMed has several products in development internally and in collaboration with pharmaceutical partners. The Company's lead product is in Phase II clinical trials in the US.
