Since the establishment 42 years ago, CJ's biotechnology business has been giving efforts to develop products that fulfill everyone's desire for health by increasing product groups with its biotechnology represented by the mass fermentation technology and the wide variety of research in the pharmaceutical area.
CJ manufactured nucleic acids such as MSG (monosodium glutamate), IMP, GMP, and I&G starting with the production of condiments through the fermentation technology it developed for the first time in Korea in 1963. And now, it is growing into the world's leader in the pharmaceutical industry contributing to the healthy life of the patients in and out of the country with the continuous development of a variety of vaccines, cytokine, medicines for geriatric diseases, and antibiotics based on advanced bioengineering technology including the latest recombinant DNA technology.
The recent acquisition of Hanil Pharm reflected CJ's strong will to strengthen its capabilities in the pharmaceutical business with and gave CJ an opportunity to bring out the synergy in the sales and profit/loss areas and strengthen the overseas license network as Hanil Pharm has many original licenses for excellent foreign medicines such as Mevalotin, Bana, Herben, and Selbex.
CJ has laying the foundation for the development of the new products by making full use of the technological strength through the latest research facilities will continue to maintain its position as the leading company in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical areas in the growing global market through the know-how and the competitive strength with the price so that the customers can enjoy 'healthy' life and will lead the bio industry of the next generation by accelerating the development of environment-friendly biotechnical materials such as the microbiological products and biodegradable products.
