MicroCal, LLC

MicroCal was founded in 1977 with the mission to develop, manufacture and market ultrasensitivecalorimeters. Prior to the formation of MicroCal, commercial calorimeters were extremely difficult to use, had long sample-throughput times and required large amounts of sample due to poor sensitivity. Due to the complexities of instrument operation and data analysis, their use was limited almost exclusively to a small number of specialists who devoted themselves primarily to calorimetry. MicroCal's first product was the MC-1 ultrasensitive scanning calorimeter. This instrument quickly became the leading commercially available ultrasensitive Differential Scanning Calorimeter and was purchased by universities and research laboratories worldwide.
Technology and product improvements are important cornerstones of MicroCal's philosophy. Our innovation has led to numerous advances in both calorimetry systems and software for the collection, analysis and presentation of calorimetric data. Calorimetry is now among the fastest growing areas of biochemical research and MicroCal instruments are recognized across the world as the industry standard.
As part of our commitment to excellence and innovation, we maintain all critical aspects of our technology, development and production in-house. Our facilities included state-of-the-art electronics, machine shop, instrument fabrication and software development capability. We believe this commitment will allow MicroCal to maintain our leadership position in the field of ultrasensitive calorimetry.
