Biovertis is a privately-held, Austrian biotechnology company focusing on the discovery and development of novel classes of small molecule antibacterials. The antibiotics market is currently dominated by drug classes that have been in use for decades. However, an alarming rise in pathogens that are resistant to these types of drugs has created an urgent, unmet medical need in this field. With an advanced pipeline of proprietary compounds, all of which are characterized by a novel therapeutic mode of action, Biovertis addresses exactly this demand. In addition, the Company runs a highly efficient drug discovery process based on structural biology yielding further novel antibiotic classes that recognize new therapeutic targets.
