The primary goal of NMA is to increase protection from meningitis and meningococcal disease. The founding directors are Candie Benn from California, Lynn Bozof from Georgia, Mike Kepferle from Maryland, Nancy Springer from New York, and Carolyn Waghorne from Texas. Each of the directors was affected personally by the tragedy of meningococcal disease attacking one of their children.
