ORQIS Medical Corporation is a privately held, medical device company developing its discovery of a novel approach to treat the underlying mechanisms responsible for congestive heart failure. ORQIS Medical discovered that continuous aortic flow augmentation (CAFA), blood flow augmentation specifically in the descending aorta, may correct abnormal circulatory conditions associated with heart failure.ORQIS Medical is developing a pipeline of devices utilizing the CAFA principle that will be evaluated in controlled clinical investigations to determine therapeutic benefit for both acute and chronic heart failure patients.
The company's first platform product, the CANCION System, is currently under clinical investigation in the MOMENTUM Trial in the United States for in-hospital use to treat acutely decompensated congestive heart failure (CHF) patients who do not respond to optimal medical therapy. The Company's second platform product, the EXELERAS System, is an implantable system being developed to treat patients who suffer from chronic congestive heart failure.
The company's novel and proprietary therapeutic devices, and treatment methods, are protected by 11 issued U.S. patents, incorporating 177 separate claims, and several issued international patents. ORQIS® Medical Corporation was founded in 1997 and is based in Lake Forest (Orange County), California.
