PLANTON GmbH

Infectious diseases are the most frequent causes of death. Microbial resistance to antibiotics is an increasing problem in medical treatment and thus an important focus in pharmaceutical research. PLANTON develops and produces a novel class of antiinfectiva – antimicrobial peptides. These molecules have a strong antibiotic efficacy and a special mechanism avoiding resistance of human pathogens. For the antimicrobial treatment this new class is a promising alternative (PMP = Plant Made Pharmaceuticals). Therefore, the company established a production system based on green plants. The production of antimicrobial peptides in plants is highly efficient, feasible at low costs and safe.
In addition, the company has a broad expertise in proteomics. Modern mass spectrometry tools characterize and identify new therapeutic targets. PLANTON offers its proteome analysis platform as a service for foreign research institutions, hospitals and biotech companies.
