QDI StrategiesDuring the late 1970's and the 1980's, several of the principals of QDI Strategies were at a midsize consulting firm helping clients develop various types of business and marketing strategies. Steve Bassill, the firm's COO, responsible for the firm's operations and theory development, looked at the results the firm and other consulting firms were delivering. Steve found roughly one third of the clients implemented the consultant's recommendations and received the expected results. One third of the clients implement the recommendations and received mixed results. The final third failed to implement the recommendations.
In 1991, Steve Bassill founded his own firm, QDI Strategies Inc. Drawing from Deming and Crosby's work on quality, he defined an unsatisfied client as a consulting failure.
