Rockwood Additives Limited

The Rockwood Additives Limited, Widnes site has been the home of inorganic chemical manufacture for over 75 years since Peter Spence & Sons Ltd began producing aluminium sulphate (used in treatment of waste water) at Moorfield Road in 1923. The site was owned from 1960 until recently by Laporte Industries Ltd until it was sold in 2000 along with several other major business of the Laporte group in a deal worth $1.2 billion to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, a leading US private equity firm.
