Romark Laboratories, L.C.

More than 35 years ago, Jean-François Rossignol M.D., Ph.D., began his career as a research scientist at the Radium Institute in France, an affiliate of the world-renowned Pasteur Institute, synthesizing and testing chemicals in search of new medicines that could be used to treat infectious diseases and cancer. His interest in medicinal chemistry led him to become a physician and then to continue his career in the pharmaceutical industry in the United States. There, while working with some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, he was entrusted with leading the development of new drugs for treating malaria and other tropical infectious diseases.
In pursuing his research in the United States, Dr. Rossignol met Marc Ayers, an investment banker with an interest in pharmaceuticals. The chemistry between these two men and their common ambitions led them to form a research-based pharmaceutical company dedicated specifically to the discovery and development of innovative new drugs. That company, founded in 1993, was named Romark Laboratories.
