Consensus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a functional proteomic and drug discovery company using several proprietary technologies to accelerate pharmaceutical research. The sequencing of the Human Genome has presented enormous commercial and scientific opportunities, as well as a massive new technical problem. While the industry now has the DNA sequences (Genomics) encoding tens of thousands of new proteins (the Proteome), there is little direction as to which of these new proteins represent valid therapeutic targets worthy of drug discovery efforts. Thus the activity of providing evidence for the function of a novel protein in the biology of the cell (i.e. Functional Proteomics) currently is considered one of the most important activities in the biopharmaceutical industry.
