Sierra’s mission is to provide innovative products with high diagnostic value in GI physiological measurement through advances in tactile and micro-sensor technologies.
The technology that drives Sierra's high-resolution sensor based products has its origins in advanced research at Harvard University in high-resolution tactile pressure sensing, led by Dr. Jae Son, founder of Sierra's sister company Pressure Profile Systems Inc.. This technology was developed by Pressure Profile, into a proprietary form that sets the commercial standard in pressure array performance and flexibility. Sierra has advanced this technology to yield world-leading accuracy in solid state pressure sensing arrays and developed novel visualization methods to enable hi-resolution pressure imaging within visceral organs of the body. The company has produced its first commercially available products: the ManoScan 360™ high resolution data acquisition system and the accompanying ManoView™ software package for esophageal motility study. These products herald a new paradigm in manometric assessment by providing real-time visualization of pressures within the digestive organs that simplifies and standardizes the data collection process and enhances diagnostic accuracy. Advanced technology is under development that provides novel 3D high-definition video images of the pressure distribution within the body.
