Sloning BioTechnology GmbH is located in Puchheim, in the vicinity of Munich, and currently employs 20 people. The company aims to become a leading provider of synthetic genes, based on its patented, fully automated SlonomicsTM technology.Sloning delivers any desired gene construct that scientists require for transforming their innovative ideas into real projects. Due to the utilisation of double stranded building blocks, highly standardised work flows and industrialised automation technology, gene synthesis is no longer influenced by the sequence of a gene construct. SlonomicsTM allows a fast and reliable synthesis also of GC-rich and repetitive gene sequences. In consequence, Sloning’s gene synthesis service provides real planning security for subsequent research projects and helps our customers to utilise their available time and budgets more efficiently.The sequencing of the human genome has been a milestone in the history of science and has created a tremendous amount of sequence data. Bioinformatics specialists estimate that only about 15% of all known human genes are functionally characterised because no adequate tools do exist for transfering this huge amount of information into knowledge. Whilst high-throughput technologies have accelerated genome analysis and proteomics, functional genomics remains a bottleneck since it relies on slow manual cloning procedures to generate modified gene constructs.
