UniTargetingResearch AS (UTR) is dedicated to the development and commercialisation of novel technologies for the improved production of mammalian proteins, especially those which are therapeutically important. The company's foundation is based upon over 10 years of University research into protein secretion and untranslated regions of mRNA.Formed in 2001, the R&D focus has been on exploring unique genetic targeting-mechanisms which enhance production of proteins in mammalian "cell factories". UTR's exploits these mechanisms to develop genetic tools, which enable these "cell factories" to generate higher yields of protein. The tools achieve this upgrade by utilising targeting signals in the secretory pathway.
