Download detailed PDF Members: Welcome to Western ArcThe Western Arc Bioscience Exploitation Platform was created in 1997 to provide a means for the identification, protection and successful exploitation of complementary bioscience expertise from the five participating Universities - Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, the University of the West of England (UWE) and the University of Wales College of Medicine (UWCM). Since then, Western Arc has established itself as an integral part of the Technology Transfer activities of the participating organisations and has been involved in filing over 25 patent applications, the conclusion of 10 licensing agreements, the generation of over £1.1m in licence and royalty income, the establishment of 8 spin-out companies and the generation of over £15m in research grant applications.Western Arc has close links with and can draw upon the experience of technology transfer organisations such as BTG PLC and the Patent Agents Withers & Rogers for project management, and is involved in commercial initiatives such as the University Challenge Seed Funds SULIS and the Cardiff Partnership Fund.
