Wilks Enterprise, Inc., founded in 1995, specializes in the development and manufacture of infrared (IR) analytical instrumentation for dedicated quantitative applications. While these instruments have been specifically designed for on-site field or at/near-line use, they are equally as useful in the analytical or testing laboratory - virtually anywhere repetitive quantitative infrared measurements are needed. And, they are the ideal choice for supplementing the capabilities of FT-IR Spectrometers in areas where it is not practical or economical to utilize such sophisticated and costly instruments. Analyses are made by measuring the amount of energy absorbed by the sample at one or two specific mid-IR wavelengths. Fixed band pass optical filters are used to isolate the wavelengths and the resulting instruments are called infrared filtometers and carry the Wilks Enterprise tradename InfraCal Filtometers or InfraRan Specific Vapor Analyzers. Our newest instrument, the InfraSpec VFA Spectrometer utilizes a detector array with a linear variable filter which enables users to obtain spectra of a variety of materials wherever they occur - at/near the production line or in the field. The new spectrometer is “pocket-sized” (5” x 5” x 1.5” in size) and is capable of producing near or mid IR spectra on powders, films, liquids, slurries, semi solids and solid surfaces.
