Zymeworks, a private Canadian company, was founded in the fall of 2003 by Dr. Ali Tehrani and Mr. Anthony Fejes M.Sc. with the help of Mr. Haig Farris, Mr. Nick Bedford and Dr. Andrew Wright. Following the closing of an initial round of financing and support from the National Research Council's Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), the company began operation in early 2004.VisionBy combining novel ideas with advances in life science research and computational technology, Zymeworks' vision is to become a world-class leader in molecular modeling and industrial enzyme engineering.Zymeworks' phased business model involves leveraging the company's expertise and technology in molecular modeling, while pursuing its own enzyme engineering goals.Mission

Science & TechnologyThe foundation of Zymeworks' technology is a collection of innovative and proprietary ideas that advance the science of molecular modeling. This field is concerned with the use of computational resources to simulate and analyze the physical and chemical properties of complex molecular structures. Scientists in both academia and industry are increasingly turning to molecular modeling as an effective predictive tool for optimized lead generation and reduced "wet-lab" experimentation. This is particularly becoming the case with respect to enzyme engineering and drug design.
