The Company is based around original concepts and discoveries made by Prof. Tom Cotter (CSO). Tom is a leading international expert in this field and is Professor of Biochemistry at University College Cork.
The goal of applied research in apoptosis is to develop new drugs that effectively modulate apoptosis in disease states in a safe manner. EiRx Therapeutics believes that there will be significant advantages to identifying novel early points of intervention in the cell death process.
In particular such novel targets will provide more effective control than drugs targeted at later stages in the death process. In addition the company is focused on identifying targets with restricted cellular expression that will provide a greater degree of specificity in drugs directed against these targets.
While apoptosis is central to much of cancer research the application of apoptosis research to other therapeutic categories presents exciting new opportunities. EiRx Therapeutics isfocused in two core areas, Cancer and Inflammation
* Cancer
* Inflammation
