Established in 1982, Immucor, Inc. was founded by a team of executives with over 200 years of combined blood bank industry experience. The Company's patented Capture® technology received its first license in 1986. This solid phase technology performs antibody screening and identification assays, providing an easy-to-use, standardized test method with improved sensitivity. In addition to manual testing benefits, this microplate-based technology is ideally suited for automated platforms. Immucor began revolutionizing the blood bank industry through the inven-tion of the ABS2000, the first FDA-cleared (1998) instrument for full auto-mation of blood typing and antibody screening assays. Immucor's second generation system, the Galileo, was launched in Europe in 2002 and received FDA clearance to market in the US on April 26, 2004. Since its inception, the Company has grown to almost 500 employees world-wide and has acquired both Gamma Biologicals, Inc. (1998) and the BCA blood bank division of Biopool International, Inc. (1999). As a result of these acquisitions, Immucor became the North American market leader in terms of sales and strengthened its market position worldwide. FY 2003 revenues totaled a record $98.3 million. In 2003, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution newspaper recognized Immucor as the second best performing company in Georgia. Immucor has been listed on NASDAQ : BLUD since 1985.
