karo bioKARO BIO IS AN ESTABLISHED GLOBAL LEADER IN THE FIELD OF NUCLEAR RECEPTOR RESEARCH AND DRUG DISCOVERY.
Karo Bio is committed to finding new and better pharmaceuticals that can effectively treat serious diseases without the deleterious side effects commonly experienced with today's drugs.
Karo Bio is a drug discovery company focusing its research on the discovery and pre-clinical phases of drug development. Research is conducted primarily in the area of nuclear receptors.
Nuclear receptors are proteins in the cell nucleus that act as receivers for a number of key hormones that enable the essential regulation of organs in the body. Through the understanding of nuclear receptors in drug design, new tissue selective drugs can be developed that have fewer or no side effects.
Through ongoing partnerships with outstanding academic and research institutions, such as the Karolinska Institute, home of the Nobel Prize, Karo Bio continues to be at the forefront of new discoveries to advance the Company's work with nuclear receptors and other research endeavors. With the current programs underway, Karo Bio is diligently working to discover and develop drugs for important therapeutic areas such as women's health, diabetes, inflammatory disease, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and atherosclerosis.
In addition to nuclear receptor research and development, Karo Bio also offers a novel approach to target validation and high-throughput screening with proprietary BioKey® technology. This proteomics-based drug discovery technology is ideal for the development of screens for targets of unknown function and for targets difficult to screen by traditional methods. The proprietary BioKey® technology is used for internal discovery programs and collaborative out-licensing agreements with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
