ABION has developed an immunoassay technology ABICAP (Antibody Immuno Column for Analytical Processes), a new generation of immunoassays that is based on an immuno affinity column design. The disposable immunoassay test cartridge houses a flow through matrix (solid phase) with extremely high binding potential. The matrix allows any reaction partners to bind completely (to the end point) in less than a minute, while the sample flows through the reaction zone. With the help of a marker substance, the bound complex is marked for quantitative readout. The ABICAP Technology can be used as a format for any immunoassay (sandwich or competitive) and allows for easy and rapid test development. Based On the ABICAP technology ABION has developed two products lines, one of which is the ABICAP Analyzer, a fully automated immunoassay system for infectious disease serology, with more than 28 different tests on board (TORCH, Herpes serology, respiratory disease serology, Lyme disease, vaccination control). The other product line brand name ABICAP TOP consists of ABION's quantitative point of care (POC) assays.
