The London Biotechnology Network (LBN) began in 2000 and has since grown to be a stalwart addition to the London life sciences community. LBN is a business network of over 800 organisations and 2000 members from the biopharmaceutical sector, academia, venture capital community, legal and accounting services, and consultants with an interest in the sector. LBN strives to provide members with relevant information and networking opportunities to cultivate the right environment for innovation and collaboration in the life sciences community. LBN organises events and co-sponsors, initiatives including:
BioWednesdays: Monthly seminar and networking meetings attracting approximately 200 delegates, each with a theme of relevance to our members.
Investor/Partnering Events: Less frequent but more focused than BioWednesdays and often run in collaboration with international partners to create effective networking forums.
Genesis Conference: Annual international conference that now includes the only UK Biotechnology Company Showcase. The event attracts in excess of 800 delegates and exhibitors from the UK and further, with presentations from industry leaders, exhibition hall, Technology Showcase and online partnering facilities. An excellent opportunity to keep up to date with recent developments in the industry, forge new business relationships and raise awareness of your company to potential partners and investors.
LBN Career Track: Sponsored by the London Development Agency, this delivers regular evening events aimed at increasing awareness of life science career opportunities, mainly for postgraduates and postdoctoral fellows. There is also a 1-2-1-mentoring scheme, recruitment offering and links with The Source careers conference led by Nature Publishing Group.
BioGuide London: The guiding vision of the project is to expand the London biotechnology sector through increased partnerships, investment and efficient access to existing resources and funds. BioGuide London aims to assist new entrants to the London market, as well as existing players, help find the contacts, services, partnering opportunities, facilities and information they need from one main source. This will be done by liaising with UKTI, the tech transfer offices, Think London, LDA and other major stakeholders in industry and government to become a primary contact point for all life science related enquires.
