Acambis plc

Acambis is a biopharmaceutical company discovering, developing and manufacturing vaccines to prevent and treat infectious diseases. Employing some 160 people, it is based in Cambridge, UK, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. It currently has 11 products in development, of which six are currently undergoing clinical trials, and technology platforms that provide the basis for the development of new products. The products in development include vaccines to prevent Japanese encephalitis, dengue fever, West Nile encephalitis, typhoid, traveller’s diarrhoea and against the stomach-ulcer-causing bacteria, H. pylori. It is also working on a smallpox vaccine for the US Government for the purposes of countering the threat of bioterrorism.
