Anergen uses an advanced biological process that is site-specific to convert agricultural, industrial and municipal biodegradable wastes into energy, nutrient-rich solids and liquid effluents. This can help agricultural and food processing industies by:
Increasing profits
Minimizing waste-related costs
Providing energy independence
Protecting the environment
All biodegradable wastes contain fats, carbohydrates and proteins called "volatile solids." In conventional aerobic or anaerobic processes waste is converted into energy in an uncontrolled tank or lagoon, requiring long retention times. This method has two disadvantages. Longer retention times require higher initial investment and operating costs. Second, only a fraction of the organic solids is converted into methane because optimal operating conditions are rarely attained.
Anergen's research found that efficient bacterial conversion of volatile solids requires several steps, utilizing different strains of bacteria and unique conditions for propagation and reaction. The Anergen process is controlled to achieve maximum conversion with short retention times.
