Pherin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is focused on the discovery and development of a new family of pharmaceutical compounds called vomeropherins. Vomeropherins have the ability to non-invasively activate specific chemoreceptors found in a structure known as the vomeronasal organ (VNO), which is located in the nasal passage (see diagram). The VNO sends neural impulses directly to the hypothalamus, a key regulatory control center of the brain. Based upon its proprietary technology and its research findings to date, the Company is strongly positioned to develop a portfolio of vomeropherin-based therapies that are superior to existing medications for the treatment of various disorders of the central nervous system (CNS) and the endocrine system because they (i) act very rapidly, (ii) are effective in very small dosages, (iii) do not require systemic absorption in order to exert their effects, (iv) are delivered easily and non-invasively, and (v) have an excellent safety profile.
