Proneuron Biotechnologies (Israel) Limited

Proneuron Biotechnologies is developing therapies for neurological, ophthalmologic and immune-related disorders such as spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's diseases. The technology derives from research on key mechanisms in the dialogue between the nervous and immune systems originating from The Weizmann Institute of Science. Proneuron's novel strategy is to modulate these systems to treat disorders hitherto considered untreatable. Using this natural approach, induction of central nervous system (CNS) regeneration was achieved in animal models. Proneuron's proprietary process for training human cells is being used in Phase I clinical trials of Autologous Macrophage therapy for acute spinal cord injury.Another revolutionary development takes advantage of another immune activity in the CNS. The T-cell and immunization therapies under development were shown to protect against secondary neural degeneration in preclinical animal models, and are seen as pioneering tools in neurotherapeutics.

Also under development is Immune Privilege Factor (IPF), a small immunosuppressive peptide normally associated with the CNS which has great potential for treating several neurological and ophthalmologic inflammatory conditions.

Proneuron operates state-of-the-art facilities in the Kiryat Weizmann Science Park, Ness-Ziona, Israel, and collaborates with scientists and physicians at renowned medical centers in Israel and abroad.
