Salmedix, Inc. is a San Diego-based biopharmaceutical company formed to in-license, develop and commercialize new cancer drugs, with an initial focus on hematologic cancers. Salmedix is developing novel therapies designed to be more effective and better tolerated than traditional cytotoxic cancer chemotherapy.
The Company has licensed a portfolio of intellectual property invented
in the laboratories of its founders at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). This portfolio includes two clinical-stage drugs and multiple earlier-stage product candidates. An experienced team of "drug hunters" is actively working to in-license additional
clinical-stage oncology agents to complement the initial portfolio.
Salmedix raised $10 million in its initial financing in January 2001, established operations in mid-2001 and commenced its first clinical trial of SDX-101 in July. The Series A investors include the leading venture firms of InterWest Partners and Versant Ventures.
