Solexa Limited

Solexa is developing a breakthrough technology for DNA sequencing. Its Single Molecule Arrays (SMAs) promise the powerful combination of massively parallel sequencing with amplification-free ‘one pot’ sample preparation. The output of the system will be used to reassemble individual genomic sequence in the context of a reference sequence, providing a TotalGenotypeä, essentially all sequence differences between an individual sample and a reference sequence. Solexa’s long-term goal is to perform a TotalGenotypeä in less than a day and for a few $k.

Solexa plans to overcome the current economic and throughput roadblocks inhibiting genome-wide analysis of genetic variation for disease-gene discovery, pharmacogenetics and genetic profiling. It intends initially to focus on information-based services, products and discovery collaborations using an in-house analytical capability.
