Obstructive sleep apnea interrupts breathing during sleep and leads to excessive daytime sleepiness and significant cardiovascular disease. Snoring is a condition which disrupts personal relationships, acts as a warning for more serious disease, and affects some 40 million Americans. Nasal obstruction is a frequent symptom of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial (year-round) allergic rhinitis. Clinical trials are underway to evaluate the use of Somnoplasty as a surgical treatment for other obstructive diseases.
