Celogos Awarded ‘Médaille de la Ville’ for Contribution to Paris Economy

Paris, France
– Friday, 22 June 2007 – Celogos, a subsidiary of HRA Pharma, has been honoured with the Médaille de la Ville de Paris for its contribution to employment and the economic vitality of Paris. Last night, the Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë and his deputy in charge of economical development, Christian Sautter, presented the award to Dr André Ulmann, CEO of HRA Pharma and Celogos in a ceremony held at the town hall.

Since its inception in 2001, Celogos has been developing an innovative technology platform called RCD (Rational Cell Design), which can be applied to the discovery, optimisation, production and delivery of innovative cell therapy products. Its founder, Christian Pinset, a renowned cell therapy expert with more than 20 years of research experience in muscle cell biology and medicine, initially built up a small team. In 2005 the company was acquired by specialty pharmaceutical company, HRA Pharma (www.hra-pharma.com). The Paris headquarters are currently staffed by 60 permanent employees.

Commenting on the award, Dr. André Ulmann, CEO of Celogos and HRA Pharma, said: “We are delighted to receive this honour bestowed by the city of Paris and thank all our employees for their continued hard work and dedication.”

About Celogos

Celogos specialises in the development of cell-based therapies, with a particular focus on muscle regeneration. Celogos’ proprietary technology platform called Rational Cell Design (RCD) allows for the isolation of muscle precursor cells from biopsies of a patient’s muscle. These precursor cells are grown using a fully patented culture process, frozen and then reinjected into the patient at the affected site. The cells then develop into mature muscle cells, repairing the damaged tissue.

Regulatory approval of RCD1 for stress urinary incontinence is anticipated to be received before 2010. The Company is also developing cell therapy products indicated for the treatment of faecal incontinence (RCD2), a rare genetic ocular myopathy (RCD3) and diseases of the cardiac muscle.

Headquartered in Paris, France, Celogos was founded in 2001 and incubated at Paris Biotech. The company was acquired in 2006 by HRA Pharma, a French pharmaceutical company that has brought clinical development and business expertise in the pharmaceutical field to Celogos’ strong scientific know-how in muscle regeneration.
